How to Awaken Devil Fruits in Re:AOPG

Devil Fruit Awakening is the single biggest power spike after Sea 3 entry in Re:AOPG. It transforms every Mythical, Legendary and Rare-tier fruit into a v2 form with new moves, new animations, and a damage multiplier that turns A-tier fruits into S-tier overnight. Awakening is gated by Awakening Stones, which drop from Sea 3 raid bosses, and by the level requirement (Lv. 300+) that most players hit a few weeks into Sea 3. This page walks through every step of the Awakening chain, every fruit that benefits, and the recommended post-awakening builds. The full fruit rankings are on the Devil Fruits tier list and the meta builds are on the Best builds hub.

Awakening is the natural ceiling for Mythical and Legendary fruits. Without it, your Mythical fruit caps at its v1 moveset — Light caps at Laser, Magma caps at Lava Fists, Dragon caps at Fire Storm. With Awakening, each Mythical gets a second moveset (v2) that adds a charged ultimate, a damage-over-time effect, or an AoE clear. The Awakening cycle is one of the longest grinds in the live game, but the payoff is the largest single stat jump after King’s Haki.

Awakening Requirements

Every fruit Awakening shares the same unlock chain:

  1. Reach level 300+ (Sea 3 entry requirement).
  2. Unlock Sea 3 (25,000 total stats + Law raid clear + 2 Poneglyphs).
  3. Defeat the Awakening Trainer NPC on Onigashima Island (Sea 3) to unlock the Awakening questline.
  4. Complete the Awakening questline for your target fruit (15-25 minutes per fruit).
  5. Pay the Awakening Stone cost (varies by fruit tier — Mythical = 100, Legendary = 60, Rare = 30, Uncommon = 15, Common = 5).
  6. Awaken the fruit to its v2 form.

Awakening Stones drop from any Sea 3 raid boss at ~2% per clear, and the fastest way to farm them is to chain Mihawk raids with a 4-man crew. The Mihawk raid chain is detailed on the Mihawk raid page.

Awakening Cost by Fruit Tier

TierStone CostExamplesAwakened Bonus
Mythical100Dragon, Phoenix, Venom, Shadow, Soul+1 charged ultimate, +1 AoE
Legendary60Magma, Light, Dark, Sand, Ice, Gravity, Quake, Ope+1 charged ultimate
Rare30Flame, String, Smoke, Rubber, Paw, Sand, Bomb+1 damage-over-time
Uncommon15Blizzard, Spring, Smoke, Spike+1 minor effect
Common5Small effects onlyCosmetic + minor buff

Mythical awakenings are the largest power spike. Dragon awakened adds a charged Fire Storm that does 3x the v1 damage and clears mobs in a 50m radius. Phoenix awakened adds a self-revive on the user (a second Wind-Storm revive). Venom awakened adds a damage-over-time poison that ticks for 5 seconds. Each Mythical awakening is worth chasing — they are the ceiling of the live game.

Awakening Trainer NPC — Onigashima

The Awakening Trainer NPC lives on Onigashima Island (Sea 3). To unlock him:

  • Reach level 300+.
  • Clear the Sea 3 entry requirements (25K stats + Law raid + 2 Poneglyphs).
  • Defeat the NPC Andre questline (the Onigashima quest chain that also gates Race V4).
  • Talk to the Awakening Trainer NPC to start the Awakening questline.

The Awakening Trainer accepts your stones + the chosen fruit, and after a 5-second cast, your fruit becomes its v2 form. The cast animation is non-cancellable — plan your Awakening runs away from boss spawns.

Awakening Stone farming

Awakening Stones drop from:

  • Mihawk raid — 2% per clear, fastest farm. 5 stones per 4-man crew run. Mihawk raid is detailed on the Mihawk raid page.
  • World Boss rotation — 1% per clear, slower but solo-friendly. The rotation schedule is on the World Boss page.
  • Sea Beast kills — 0.5% per kill, fastest solo farm. Sea Beast locations are on the Sea Beast page.
  • Crew Raid — 1.5% per clear, requires a full 6-man crew. Crew setup is on the Crew upgrades page.

The fastest Awakening Stone farm is a 4-man Mihawk raid chain. Average stone yield per Mihawk run is 5 stones (4-man crew at 2% per player × 4). At 100 stones for a Mythical Awakening, that’s ~20 Mihawk runs per Mythical Awakening — about 2-3 hours of dedicated grinding.

Top Awakened Builds

After awakening a fruit, pair it with the recommended fighting style and race:

The full ranking is on the Devil Fruits tier list. Awakened Mythicals sit at the top of every tier list in the live game.

Awakening Order of Operations

Most players awaken in this order:

  1. Magma (60 stones) — first Mythical-tier Awakening, gives an early Sea 3 power spike. Best paired with Sword Saint + Fishman.
  2. Light (60 stones) — second Awakening, gives the laser piercing v2. Best with Rokushiki + Cyborg.
  3. Dragon (100 stones) — Mythical Awakening, the strongest sustained AoE in the game. Best with Sword Saint + Skypiean.
  4. Phoenix (100 stones) — Mythical Awakening, self-revive stacking with Lunarian race for an immortal bruiser.
  5. Venom (100 stones) — Mythical Awakening, the strongest 1v1 DoT in the game. Best with Electro + Cyborg.

Common Awakening Mistakes

  1. Awakening Common fruits first — Common Awakening is cheap but the v2 is cosmetic. Save the 5 stones for a Rare Awakening instead.
  2. Awakening before Sea 3 — you must be in Sea 3 to unlock the Awakening Trainer.
  3. Awakening without crew buffs — crew buffs multiply raid stone drops. Without crew buffs, you’ll grind twice as long. The buff ladder is on the Crew upgrades page.
  4. Ignoring the Mythical awakening prerequisite — Mythical Awakening requires 100 stones, not 60. Plan the grind for a week, not a day.
  5. Not stacking PEAK 2x during stone farm — the PEAK code doubles raid drops. Use it during Mihawk runs. The PEAK code is on the Codes hub.

Awakening and Race V4

Race V4 unlocks (Mink V4, Cyborg V4, Lunarian V4) require Conqueror’s Haki plus a stack of raid boss kills. Fruit Awakening and Race V4 chain together — most players chase them in parallel. The race V4 walkthrough is on the Races tier list.

Awakening Stone Trading

Awakening Stones trade 1:1 with Mythical-tier fruits on the player market. A full Mythical Awakening (100 stones) sells for ~250 Dragons (a Mythical fruit’s worth). The Trading values page has the full ladder: Trading values.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Re:AOPG questions.

What is the max Awakening stage in Re:AOPG?

Each fruit has one Awakening (v1 → v2). The v2 form is the final form. Mythical fruits get the largest v2 moveset, with a charged ultimate and a new AoE. The full list is on the [Awakening guide](/guides/how-to-awaken-fruits/).

How many Awakening Stones for a Mythical fruit?

100 Awakening Stones. They drop at 2% per Mihawk raid clear. Most players need ~20 Mihawk runs for one Mythical Awakening. The Mihawk raid chain is on the [Mihawk raid page](/bosses/mihawk-raid/).

Where is the Awakening Trainer NPC?

Onigashima Island (Sea 3). You must reach level 300, clear the Sea 3 entry chain, and complete NPC Andre's questline before you can talk to him. The full unlock chain is on the [Awakening guide](/guides/how-to-awaken-fruits/).

Which fruit should I awaken first?

Magma — 60 stones, the cheapest Mythical-tier Awakening, and the recommended first pick for new Sea 3 players. After Magma, the priority order is Light, Dragon, Phoenix, Venom. The full priority list is on the [Awakening guide](/guides/how-to-awaken-fruits/) and the [Devil Fruits tier list](/tier-list/devil-fruits/).

Does Awakening work on Common fruits?

Yes but the v2 form is cosmetic + minor buff. Save the 5 Common stones for a Rare Awakening instead — Rare v2 is a real damage-over-time effect. The tier-by-tier cost table is on the [Awakening guide](/guides/how-to-awaken-fruits/).
