Race is the single biggest long-term decision in Re:AOPG. It locks in your starting stats, the fighting-style bonus that defines your combo ceiling, and your access to the V4 race awakenings that gate the Multiverse Sea meta. This list ranks every race currently live on the Multiverse Sea patch (Aug 2026) — Human, Fishman, Mink, Skypiean, Cyborg, Lunarian, Gear, Ultimate Slime, Awakened Saiyan and the recently added Seraphim — using combat data from the Bosses hub, build data from the Best builds hub, and progression data from the How to unlock Haki guide.
V4 awakenings are the ceiling for any race, and they all gate behind 5,000+ total Haki Stats plus Conqueror’s Haki plus a stack of crew kills. S+ Tier — Multiverse Sea Apex Races
These races sit at the top of every tier list in the live game. They all have V4 awakenings, full fighting-style synergy and top-tier raid utility.

Mink vs Cyborg — Mink wins raw speed (Rokushiki Soru chains, fastest dash in the game). Cyborg wins build flexibility (+12% flat damage to every fighting style). If you main one style, Mink wins; if you swap styles often, Cyborg wins. Both unlock V4 paths that define the Multiverse Sea meta.
Lunarian vs Cyborg — Lunarian is the self-revive bruiser (the V4 Lunarian form has the strongest fire scaling in the game and a stacked self-revive). Cyborg is the flat-damage carry (no specialty, but scales with everything). For a 1v1 PvP main, Cyborg wins; for a 6-man raid anchor, Lunarian wins.
Who should pick an S+ race? Any player who has cleared Sea 3, has Conqueror’s Haki, and is ready to grind 5,000+ Haki Stats for the V4 unlock. Until then, the A-tier races below are the smarter chase.
S Tier — Strong Carries
These races are the workhorses of the end-game meta. They all have access to V3 awakenings, strong fighting-style synergy, and they slot into every raid crew. They are also the most-played races in the live game because their V4 unlock gates are reasonable.

Skypiean is the Devil Fruit tier list match for sword builds. The Skypiean agility bonus amplifies Sword Saint damage by 20%, which is the top sustained-DPS ceiling in the base game. Pair with Dragon or Leopard for the raid-finisher build.
Human is the safest pick. Human has the largest stat pool in the game (1.0x across all stats) and the Dark Step synergy gives you the strongest 1v1 scaling without a style-locked bonus.
Fishman is the fastest grinder. The Fishman 25% bonus turns Water Kung-Fu from A-tier into S-tier, and the build pairs with the Magma Devil Fruit for the recommended F2P route on the Getting started guide.
A Tier — Niche Picks
These races have V1-V2 awakenings and niche utility. They are playable in the Multiverse Sea meta but outclassed by the S and S+ picks above.

Gear is the Luffy-themed race. The Gear transformation gives +10% damage during Gear shift, but the bonus only applies while transformed. It is the weakest of the One Piece-themed races.
Ultimate Slime is the Tensei Slime collab race. The hybrid form scales with both Haki and Devil Fruit stats, which is unique among races. It is gated behind the Multiverse Sea collab chain.
Bunny is a recurring event race with +10% attack speed. It is fast-attack oriented but event-locked, so it is not always live.
B Tier — Awakened Saiyan and Seraphim
The two newest races sit in their own tier. They are end-game race picks with V4 awakenings gated by the toughest requirements in the game.

Awakened Saiyan is the Dragon Ball crossover race. The V4 unlock requires the Goku crossover raid clear plus 5,000+ Haki Stats plus Conqueror’s Haki. It is the strongest transformation race in the game and pairs exclusively with Ultra Instinct from the Fighting styles tier list.
Seraphim is the Egghead endgame race. The V4 unlock requires the Seraphim storyline completion plus Conqueror’s Haki. It is the newest race and the strongest holy-damage race in the game.
Both races are end-game only — they are not starter picks. The V4 unlock chain takes most players 2-3 months of dedicated grinding.
How V4 Awakenings Work
Every race has a V4 awakening chain that unlocks the top-tier form. The chain:
- Reach 5,000+ total Haki Stats (from the Haki guide).
- Unlock Conqueror’s Haki (1.5% drop from The Boss on Arena Island).
- Clear the V3 awakening quest for your race.
- Clear the V4 awakening quest for your race.
- Pay the upgrade cost (varies by race).
The V4 unlock costs vary by race — Mink V4 costs 25 Poneglyphs, Cyborg V4 costs 30 Poneglyphs, Lunarian V4 costs 40 Poneglyphs. Awakened Saiyan V4 costs 50 Poneglyphs plus the Goku raid clear.
