Re:AOPG Races Explained: Human, Fishman, Mink

Races are one of the three big character decisions in Re:AOPG. Your race locks in your starting stats and grants a fighting-style bonus that shapes your entire build. This page covers every race, the exact bonuses, and the meta build for each.

Human

  • Stat bonus: Largest base stat pool. No combat bonus.
  • Best fighting styles: Dark Step, Rokushiki Ate, Sword Saint.
  • Best Devil Fruits: Yami Yami, Pika Pika, Gura Gura.
  • Meta build: Dark Dark + Dark Step + Human — the classic PvP build.
  • Why pick Human: Largest stat pool means you can run any build without losing scaling. The safest pick for new players.

Fishman

  • Stat bonus: +25% damage with Fishman Karate and Fishman Jujutsu.
  • Best fighting styles: Water Kung-Fu, Fishman Karate, Fishman Jujutsu.
  • Best Devil Fruits: Magma Magma, Mera Mera, Goro Goro.
  • Meta build: Magma Magma + Water Kung-Fu + Fishman — the grinder build.
  • Why pick Fishman: Fastest XP route in Patch 5.4. Best for free-to-play players.

Mink

  • Stat bonus: +15% speed, +15% damage with Soru and Rokushiki Ate.
  • Best fighting styles: Soru, Rokushiki Ate, Rokushiki Rankyaku.
  • Best Devil Fruits: Pika Pika, Goro Goro, Pika Pika no Mi.
  • Meta build: Light Light + Electro + Mink — the speed build.
  • Why pick Mink: Strongest 1v1 PvP combo in the game. Best for players who love hit-and-run tactics.

Skypiean

  • Stat bonus: +20% agility, +20% damage with Sword Saint.
  • Best fighting styles: Sword Saint, Dark Step, Rokushiki Soru.
  • Best Devil Fruits: Eastern Dragon, Quake Quake, Pika Pika.
  • Meta build: Eastern Dragon + Sword Saint + Skypiean — the Patch 5.4 meta.
  • Why pick Skypiean: Highest single-target melee DPS ceiling. The strongest race for the current meta.

Cyborg

  • Stat bonus: +12% flat damage to every fighting style.
  • Best fighting styles: Any style works well on Cyborg.
  • Best Devil Fruits: Any Mythic-tier fruit.
  • Meta build: Quake Quake + Rokushiki Ate + Cyborg — the boss-killer build.
  • Why pick Cyborg: The safest “good at everything” pick. Great if you plan to play multiple fighting styles.

How to Reroll Your Race

If you make a mistake during character creation, the race-reroll NPC is in Orange Town. The cost is 5,000 gems, which is exactly what the RELEASE code gives you. Most players reroll at most once.

Which Race Is Best?

The “best” race depends on your playstyle:

  • Free-to-play players who want fast XP: Fishman.
  • PvP-focused players: Skypiean or Mink.
  • Players who want to play every style: Cyborg.
  • Players who want the safest pick: Human.
  • Players who want the Patch 5.4 meta: Skypiean.

Race Bonuses in Detail

The exact bonuses per race:

  • Human — No combat bonus. Largest base stat pool (1.0x across all stats). Best for builds that rely on raw stat scaling rather than race-specific bonuses.
  • Fishman — +25% damage with Fishman Karate and Fishman Jujutsu. +10% underwater stamina. Best for Fishman-specific builds.
  • Mink — +15% base speed. +15% damage with Soru and Rokushiki Ate. +10% jump height. Best for speed-focused builds.
  • Skypiean — +20% agility. +20% damage with Sword Saint. +15% aerial mobility. Best for sword-style builds.
  • Cyborg — +12% flat damage to every fighting style. +5% resistance to all status effects. The safest “good at everything” pick.

Race vs. Build Synergy

The best race for a given build:

  • Magma Magma + Water Kung-Fu: Fishman for the damage bonus.
  • Light Light + Dark Step: Mink for the speed bonus.
  • Eastern Dragon + Sword Saint: Skypiean for the damage bonus.
  • Yami Yami + Dark Step: Human for the largest stat pool.
  • Quake Quake + Rokushiki Ate: Cyborg for the flat damage bonus.

Race Reroll Strategy

The race-reroll NPC sits in Orange Town. Cost is 5,000 gems, which is exactly what the RELEASE code gives you. Most players reroll at most once.

The optimal strategy:

  1. Start with your first-choice race.
  2. Reach level 50 using the leveling route.
  3. If your race does not feel right, reroll once at level 50.
  4. After the second attempt, commit. Race bonuses do not change based on the meta, so a re-roll after Patch 5.5 will give the same result.

Common Race Mistakes

  • Picking Human by default. Human is safe but never the strongest in the current meta.
  • Picking Fishman for a non-water build. The Fishman bonus is wasted if you are not running Fishman Karate or Fishman Jujutsu.
  • Picking Skypiean for a non-sword build. The Skypiean bonus only applies to Sword Saint.
  • Rerolling more than twice. The 5,000-gem cost adds up fast.

Race Lore

The five races in Re:AOPG are drawn from the canonical One Piece universe. Human is the default race, Fishman is the underwater race from Fishman Island, Mink is the furred race from Zou, Skypiean is the winged race from Skypiea, and Cyborg is the mechanical race from the Franky family. The race you pick does not change the story, but it does affect your dialogue options in some side quests.
