Zangetsu (community spelling also Zongetsu) is the drop-based sword August 2026 routes pair with Twilight. Base Zangetsu drops from its associated boss at roughly 5%. That is only the blade — abilities need Souls and a Mask, and Souls spawn on a timer, so the full kit takes longer than the first lucky drop.

Step 1 — Get the Base Sword
- Reach the sea / Multiverse content that hosts the Zangetsu boss (Hueco Mundo / Multiverse Sea routes appear in older AOPG drop tables; confirm the live heading on Trello and Island Tracker).
- Clear the boss repeatedly.
- Expect about a 5% base sword drop — bring Dark V2 or another AoE fruit so clears stay short.
- Equip the sword and open the ability UI — if moves are locked, you still need Souls + Mask.
Do not trade the base blade away before the ability chain finishes unless you already own a duplicate.
Step 2 — Souls
Souls are the time-gated material. Community guides note they spawn periodically, so AFK waiting next to a known spawn after each clear is normal. Tips:

- Confirm the sword is equipped, not sitting in storage.
- Confirm you handed in the correct Mask, not a cosmetic cape.
